The curtains hid the sunlight, as they knelt upon the ground
They worshipped God in silence, and rose at every sound
Tears descended like the rain, as they began to pray
A picture of church history, a picture of today
The peaceful calm is broken, a door flung open wide
Soldiers have discovered them--Christians as they hide
One said: "Hand me your Bible!" Then, he threw it to the ground.
"A condition will be made. Then, your freedom will be found."
"Spit upon this book of lies. Then, you'll be free to go."
"Anyone refusing will be shot and then we'll know"
"Who are the true believers? Your faith will set you free."
A silence overcame the room. Then, he looked at me.
"You first," the soldier said. I felt afraid and cold.
Suddenly, I knew inside, fear had taken hold.
Father, please forgive me, as I spit into Your Book.
I left the room in freedom, but my courage they took.
Are you listening?
(repeat)
Can you hear the suffering?
The Church in chains and the Truth they bring?
(repeat)
Do you care?
(3x)
The Gospel, their burden, will you share?
(4x)
Are you listening?
(repeat)
Returning to the door, I watched the scene inside.
Is faith only real when in action its applied.
The believers were surrounded. But their souls inside were free.
Followers of Jesus Christ is what they chose to be.
Quietly, a young girl, came forward from the crowd.
Overcome with love for Jesus, on her knees she bowed.
She wiped The Bible on her dress. She was not afraid.
"What have they done to Your Word? Please forgive them, Lord." She prayed.
The room it fell in silence. A gun pressed to her head.
The trigger it was pulled. The girl fell down dead.
Angels held her closely, and took her to The King.
Jesus, Who embraced her, and all the angels sing
Are you listening?
(repeat)
Can you hear the suffering?
The Church in chains and The Truth they bring?
(repeat)
Do you care?
(3x)
The Gospel, their burden, will you share?
(4x)
Are you listening?
(repeat)
We have freedom in Jesus' Name
But hide in prisons of fear and shame
Perfect love casts out fear
Spread The Gospel. Shed a tear.
Do you care?
(3x)
The Gospel, their burden, we will share!
(4x)
